About Devin
Devin practices in the firm’s litigation section and has a broad-ranging commercial litigation law practice. Devin handles pricing and antitrust litigation, as well as Truth-in-Lending, financial services, and UCC litigation. Devin also represents employers, focusing on labor & employment litigation and advice, collective bargaining matters, and employee benefit and ERISA litigation. In addition to his practice, Devin serves on the Board of Directors of the Alabama-Germany Partnership.
Devin is admitted to practice in Alabama and Ohio, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Alabama, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Sixth, and Eleventh Circuits.
Devin received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Virginia Journal of International Law. He received his B.A., summa cum laude, in German and Political Science from Amherst College and studied during his junior year at the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen, Germany.
What was your first job?
After college, I worked as a legal assistant at a law firm … in Belgium.
What advice would you give to a young student in law school?
Enjoy! This is the only time that you will be asked what the facts and holding were in A.A. Poultry Farms, Inc. v. Rose Acre Farms, Inc., without having to explain how the holding applies to your case and your client. Only law students and legislators get asked what the law should be, not what it is.
