About Eric
Eric Golden is a member of the firm’s Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy Group and its Commercial Litigation Group.
Eric brings over 11 years of litigation experience to his bankruptcy and commercial litigation practices. Eric’s bankruptcy practice focuses on representing clients in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases throughout the state of Florida and in various courts across the country. Eric has represented secured creditors, unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, debtors-in-possession, parties purchasing assets in bankruptcy cases, landlords, tenants, equipment lessors, examiners, franchisors, licensors, and other interested parties in bankruptcy disputes. Recently, his practice has included a focus on representing clients in the hospitality, automobile sales/dealerships, and real estate development industries. Eric has served as lead counsel in several bankruptcy cases and bankruptcy trials, utilizing his extensive litigation and bankruptcy experience to achieve results for his clients. Eric also has experience representing secured creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases.
In his commercial litigation practice, Eric represents clients in a variety of civil matters, including those outside the bankruptcy arena. He has represented parties in state and federal court disputes involving contracts, real estate, construction, mortgage foreclosure, employment law, securities fraud, commercial evictions, partnership disputes and complex guardianship and trust proceedings. Eric has experience in jury trials and bench trials, and recently served as co-counsel in a securities fraud case where his client recovered over 30 million dollars in damages. In addition, Eric has experience representing healthcare clients in litigation involving Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement rates, as well as qui tam and class action litigation.
Eric has spoken and written on issues regarding bankruptcy and the real estate industry to developers, bankers, homebuilders, and property managers/landlords. He has also been the subject of a published interview about the bankruptcy process for the accounting industry.
Eric is a member of the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute. He is also a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Florida Bar Association, where he is a member of the Trial Lawyers and Business Law Sections. Eric previously served as president of the board of directors of the For Kids’ Sake Foundation, a foundation established to support Big Brothers and Big Sisters organizations throughout Florida, and is a former mentor at Orange Center Elementary School.
