What is your favorite thing about the law?
I love the creative challenge of helping clients in need using the parameters of the substantive laws and procedural rules to achieve the desired result.
What community projects are you involved in?
Through the Orange County Bar Association, its Foundation, and the Legal Aid Society, the metropolitan Orlando community obtains free or low cost assistance for traditional legal problems, as well as assistance in providing necessities such as clothing. I assist in these endeavors, such as being a past and current chair of “LawSuits”; I am actively helping to provide appropriate business and work attire for displaced and unemployed workers through the Orange County Community Service Center’s Clothes Closet and Job Rehabilitation Programs.
What was your first job?
As a granddaughter of two very hard working entrepreneurial immigrant grandparents, I was an exempt “employee” under the Fair Labor Standards Act, who has many fine childhood memories of working on Saturdays with my grandparents at their dry cleaning and laundry facility.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy photography, then making scrapbook albums with the photographs of the people and events I have experienced. A favorite subject and event is my annual family skiing and snowboarding week; coming from Orlando, it’s also cherished for the snow we play in but don’t have to shovel!
What advice would you give to a young student in law school?
The law is your constant companion; learn to love and respect it or you may want to choose a different path.
How do you define a good day?
A “good day” is any day you are able to spend time with those you love.
How do you spend your weekend?
Being from New Orleans, a perfect weekend is any weekend with good food, good wine, good music, and good people.
