About Matt
Matt practices in the firm’s Litigation section. He has worked on a variety of consumer fraud matters in addition to maintaining a significant general litigation practice. Matt is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the Florida State Bar, the Birmingham Bar Association and serves as a member of Burr & Forman’s Recruiting Committee. In addition, he was recognized as a “Rising Star” by Alabama Super Lawyers in 2011.
Matt received his B.A., magna cum laude, in 2001 from Samford University and his J.D., summa cum laude, in 2004 from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. While in law school, he served as Articles Editor for the Cumberland Law Review and published an article therein entitled “Employment Involvement Programs: The Time Has Come To Amend Section 8(a) of the NLRA”, 34 Cumb. L. Rev. 503. Matt was also the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship and is a member of Curia Honoris.
What is your favorite thing about the law?
The intellectual challenge involved in formulating a successful legal argument.
What was your first job?
I was a disc jockey at a small local radio station in my hometown.
What is your hobby?
Playing guitar.
What advice would you give to a young student in law school?
For an aspiring litigator, I would engage in law school activities designed to hone public speaking and writing skills.
