About Mike
Mike’s primary practice concentration is in the field of property and casualty insurance issues along the Gulf Coast. He has extensive experience in both insurance and commercial litigation in state and federal courts, and his practice ranges from initial coverage opinions to all aspects of litigation and trial of complex cases.
In the past, Mike has taken on a lead role assisting insurance carriers in handling claims arising from the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons. He also continues to publish and present extensively on insurance issues of a wide range, from those in marine and admiralty to property and casualty to directors’ and officers’ coverages.
Mike is a Dallas, Texas native who received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1991 from Spring Hill College in Mobile. Later, in 1995, Mike earned magna cum laude honors in earning his J.D. from the University of Alabama. Mike has been in private practice since 1996, and is admitted to practice before all State and Federal courts in Alabama.
What is your favorite thing about the law?
No two cases are exactly alike. Each one presents unique challenges requiring creativity.
What community projects are you involved in?
I am active in my children’s school and recently participated in installation of a new playground. I am also active in our parish and participate in our children’s athletic activities therein.
What was your first job?
I had a newspaper route from my bicycle beginning in the 7th grade.
What are your hobbies?
enjoy exercise through biking, running, yard work, and the occasional game of golf. I am also a huge fan of football season.
What advice would you give to a young student in law school?
To practice law the right way, you have to be doing it for the right reasons.
How do you spend your weekend?
An early morning bike ride, some time at the office catching up and preparing for the next week, some time spent at home catching up on projects, and activities of all kinds with my family and friends.
