About Bill
Bill practices in the Litigation Section of the firm, with an emphasis on employment law, civil rights defense, municipal law, federal and state constitutional law, and appellate practice. In addition, Bill has considerable experience representing clients before administrative agencies.
Outside the area of litigation, Bill has developed expertise in federal and state campaign law. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar, the Birmingham Bar Association, and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Bill received his B.A., summa cum laude, from Birmingham-Southern College, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Bill is a native of Birmingham, returning to his hometown after completing law school at the University of Virginia. As a teenager, Bill was an Eagle Scout, with a particular interest in snaring lizards and snakes and displaying them at the annual Scout Jamboree (this has Freudian overtones suggestive of his future professional direction.) Bill has long since put away his tent, and now enjoys travel, red wines, antique furniture, classical music, physical training, and spending time with his two daughters.
