On October 13, 2011, the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (“CFPB”) released the first version of its Supervision and Examination Manual. The purpose of the manual is to provide CFPB examiners with the tools to give consumer financial companies consistent, consumer-focused, data-driven examinations to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws.
